The Devil I Knew

I’m halfway

open

always

on the mend.

Are you still

undone,

the way that

I love you?

I pray

that

wherever

you are,

I could

find you

still in 1,000 pieces

dancing.

Not so whole

that you disremember

the Pan-God in you

that runs wild.

Not so

healed,

tame

and peaceful

That your

Wickedness

has faded

completely.

I pray

that you are

not so sovereign

or Holy,

That

you have lost

the midnight

inside you.

I want

to find you

one day

Devilish,

Wide-grinned,

somewhere

between

things.

Not the same

as you once were-

but more

Broken,

Ready

for the Underworld,

Equal with

Despair and Delight.

I want you

beneath

the ground

laughing,

Full of a life

lived well,

Primitive

and dirty.

I have

no hymns

for your

Salvation,

I much prefer

you free,

full of Madness,

loudly dying.
